You're Better Than That! Part 2

You're Better Than That! Part 2
  • Dec 23, 2013

Welcome to my next installment of “You’re better than that.”

If you remember, this was the phrase my amazing friend used with me, when I asked her for advice. I love it, because first of all, not too many friends are willing to say that kind of honesty to a friend. Which is mostly because we (the friend) aren’t willing to take it.

I’m partial to the phrase “look in the mirror and fix that first.” Hmmm, not totally sure if that’s a true phrase. But I know I do say it a lot! If there’s one thing I’ve learned on this road of life, it’s that:

  1. life isn’t easy

  2. adding kids to the mix makes it harder

  3. trying to be perfect at everything is a waste of time

  4. if you can’t fix what’s in the mirror, then you’re going to have a lot of problems with a lot of people down the road.

So, let’s get to it!

  • Girl, I’ve counted your reps during your WOD and I KNOW you wod-rifficked! (cheated your reps!) YOU’RE BETTER THAN THAT!!
  • Ladies, why are you still posting half naked pictures of other women and yourself on Facebook and Instagram? Be your BEST YOU. Don’t be influenced by an airbrushed photo of a girl with a perfect body, who’s working out. And please don’t try to sexify yourself all up. It’s not cool. And honestly, people are probably laughing. At YOU. YOU’RE BETTER THAN THAT.
  • People, when did Facebook become the open ended drama platform?? You know what I’m talking about. Those VERY AMBIGUOUS posts that beg for people to ask what’s wrong or give the poster LOTS of attention. I’m all for being open and honest on Facebook and saying what’s really wrong and being transparent… but seriously,  You’re better than that! Just say it :)

Facebook took a doozy on my family this weekend. It was actually quite comical. My brother got reamed on the “front porch” FB group for trying to find a new home for his cat. Shocking. So shocking, then it was hilarious.  130 comments of people telling my brother that he’s a horrible person, then shaming him for not wanting his cat. Facebook and the internet world is so funny. Its the place where you can write anything and say anything without actually facing people.

When I see posts from people screaming for attention, I just see insecurity and isolation. Come on, You’re better than that! Get into real relationships with people! Face your problems! And if you have a problem with someone, go to them. Don’t blast it on Facebook in a candid manner.

You’re better than that!

That’s all I got for today. Happy Tuesday – only 8 more days till Christmas!!

I need to go shopping. But this little chicken is always with me  :)which really isn’t so bad
