About 5 months ago I made one of the best decisions of my life...I joined Yucaipa CrossFit!
 

I had heard CrossFit was too dangerous, too expensive, and too hard!

When I first heard about CrossFit I was intimidated and a little too afraid to give it a try. It looked like it would be my kind of fun, but I had heard that is was too dangerous, too expensive, and I would have to lift super heavy weights.  So, I had always talked myself out of trying it.

However, last year one of my former co-workers started Crossit and completely transformed her body. She got lean, strong, and toned. I have never liked lifting weights because I was afraid I would get big and bulky.  However, my friends transformation showed me that a girl can lift weights regularly and not look like a guy!
 

Giving it a try

I was invited to try out Yucaipa CrossFit as they were preparing to open their new box and I finally decided to give it a try. My goal was to lose weight and get back into a regular workout routine.  What I really wanted was to get back into my pre-baby clothes.
 

Addicted to CrossFit

I became addicted to CrossFit after my first WOD at YCF! It was really hard but it was even more fun. My coaches are so supportive and encouraging.  I realized it is not dangerous if you have excellent coaches that teach proper technique before each movement and watch to make sure the movements are performed correctly.  I also realized it is worth every penny!

I love the wonderful new friends I have met and they are like a second family to me now. Everyone is so encouraging and supportive and the friendly competition has me pushing myself harder than I have ever done before!  It is the most fun I have ever had working out and I look forward to going!

 

Member Highlight Questions

What were you doing for fitness before Yucaipa CrossFit?

I have not done much as far as regular exercise for the last 7 years (Since my first child was born)....Occasional walks, hikes and Wii fitness at home.  Before kids, I went hiking twice a week, swam, played racquetball and had the Tae Bo dvds that I would do also to try to keep in shape.  I was a member on and off at a regular gym also.

 

What brought you to Yucaipa CrossFit?

I was invited to try it for free while they were preparing to open...I had nothing to lose!
 

Tell us about your experience at YCF

I just love everything about YCF and knew it was for me from day one! The coaches are AMAZING! Everyone is so encouraging and I love the teamwork aspect. I push myself harder than I have ever done before. I have never had so much fun working out and have never had such a great workout. I walk out of YCF with a wonderful feeling of accomplishment!
 

What is your favorite YCF memory?

Climbing up the rope all the way to the top!
 

What is your biggest area of improvement?

My endurance and strength. I have far to go, but I am amazed at the difference from when I first started CF. Oh, and losing twenty pounds of fat is a huge area of improvement also!
 

What is your next goal?

Hand-stand push ups and graduate to the 24" box jumps.
 

What is your favorite WOD/movement?

I love the variety of WODs/movements and that each day is different...but if I had to pick one, it would be rowing...or climbing the rope!
 

What movements/WODs are your least favorite?

I like Burpees in small amounts...but when there are more than 20, they are my least favorite.   Burpees and I have a love/hate relationship. :)
 

Anything else you would like to share?

I wish everyone would try out Yucaipa CrossFit!  You will be amazed how fun it is and how much you have to gain from it!  Whether you are younger, older or in between, whether you are in the best shape of your life, worse shape or in between...They meet you where you are at and help you reach goals you never thought were possible!  It will change your life...physically and mentally...in an amazing way!
