Kombucha forever

Kombucha forever
  • Jan 2, 2014

I stood at the stove yesterday, heating up water, dumping my usual 1 cup of sugar in to melt and adding the 11 tea bags to make my homemade Kombucha and I then I realized. I’m at my stove EVERY.SINGLE.DAY making Kombucha!!

I guess that’s what happens when you have four different [HUGE] jars of different size SCOBYs growing in the fermented goodness. Sometimes things can stress me out – like keeping up with my Kombucha! But it’s totally worth it!

When we moved into our house, it took my Kombucha over 2 weeks to ferment and I kinda didn’t know what to do with myself.

  • what do I drink?
  • what do my kids drink?
  • there is no taste testing to see if it’s done!

I was very lost. We were very lost (hahaha!)

But now I’m on schedule and the SCOBY’s are fermenting and the kids have their special Kombucha to drink and it just makes our lives better :)

Some times being disciplined in keeping a SCOBY growing and thriving (along with three kids. haha) is a little much. And maybe, it’s even kinda weird! Let’s be honest, I have [MULTIPLE] growing organisms thriving on top of my refrigerator and I’m kinda obsessed with it! WEIRD! I get it. But I love it. It’s worth it to me to keep it going. I may even go farther to say it has actually become a passion of mine to grow things, make things, and eat things that make my insides better. And it’s a little overwhelming. But its A LOT worth it.

What keeps you going? What’s weird but exciting for you? Own it! Love it and do it. God made us all unique and that’s what is so fun about life and people!

I grew my own SCOBY from purchased bottles last April and have had a continuous brew since. It’s been so fun to send SCOBY’s off to people locally and help them ferment their own. I love spreading the Kombucha goodness!

Let me know if you have any Kombucha questions!
